Increasing community capacity to prepare for and respond to disasters
Raah-e-Najaat's Disaster Management project seeks to give quick and effective help to areas affected by natural disasters. Our method incorporates Preparedness, Response, Recovery, and Rehabilitation into a 'Building Back Safer' approach. We employ post-disaster recovery programmes to make buildings and communities more resilient to future hazards. Raah-e-Najaat conducts an annual risk assessment and mapping of sensitive regions in India to improve its emergency response readiness. The major focus of our Disaster Management Mission is long-term engagement with impacted communities and attempts to offer them with urgent support for recovery.
The process of responding to a disaster by giving humanitarian help to individuals and communities affected by some type of calamity It entails coping with and minimizing hazards, as well as preparing, sustaining, and rebuilding society when natural or man-made disasters occur. In general, emergency management is the ongoing process by which all individuals, groups, and communities manage risks in order to avoid or mitigate the effect of catastrophes caused by the hazards. The actions done are influenced in part by the risk perceptions of individuals who are exposed. Effective disaster management is dependent on the comprehensive integration of emergency plans at all levels of government and non-government engagement. Activities at each level (individual, group, and community) have an impact on the others.
